In the twenty-four years that I have been teaching, I have never been required to do as much testing as I have this year. January has been particularly test intensive. We started out with district reading and math benchmarks. Then we administered the district writing assessment. Now we are doing mid-year ARIs (Analytical Reading Inventories) which are given one on one. Sometimes I really long for the old days when I got to teach reading and math, and choose which tests to give.
There is beauty all around us. We just need to take the time to notice the richness in our lives. These are the many things for which I am grateful.
