Clean Dog

Bailey went to the groomer yesterday. He had a bath and a haircut, and got his nails trimmed.  That little dog is white after all.  He was a very dirty dog when he went.

Bailey spends a lot of time sleeping on the back of the couch and love seat.  This start when he was little and lived with Zoe, and it has continued now that Winnie has joined our family.  He feels safer up there.

Today was a great day to go for walk.  We enjoyed a nice stroll around the neighborhood.  Then we spent some time hanging out on the deck.  Bailey was being a whiny boy today. He didn't like the fact that I worked in my craft room and corrected papers.  He thought I should be paying more attention to him.

The puppies and I went for a walk this evening.  This is my view during our walk.  Our walks are not exactly aerobic exercise.  We make too many stops for sniffing and peeing.

Photo #220/365: Are They BFFs Yet?

Winnie came just eight days ago.  We started out with Bailey and Winnie ignoring each other, then we moved to butt sniffing. After a few days they were willing to be on the same couch, mainly because that is where I was.  They would both snuggle up next to me and beg for petting.  When I was talking on the phone today, I looked over and saw them laying on the couch together.

Winnie is beginning to settle in. She discovered the toys today, and it turns out she is a player. These toys were brand new, because Bailey has zero interest in toys. They are used now, because Winnie, like our old dog, Zoe, likes to tear them apart after she has played with them for awhile. I tried really hard to get a picture of her playing with the toys, but she was moving too fast.

Winnie and Bailey are getting more comfortable together. On Monday, they ignored each other. Tuesday they progressed to butt sniffing, and today they are sleeping on the couch together. They are also both looking for lots of petting.

I wouldn't say they are friends yet, but I expect they will be by the end of the week.

On the way back from visiting Nancy, I met up with my friend, Jan. We arranged to meet in Grinnell, because her dog, Winnie is coming to live with me. Winnie is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, and she is very beautiful. After leaving Grinnell we drove to my mom's house, where I picked up Bailey. Then we all headed home to begin getting to know each other.

Winnie is wonderful! She is very loving, but of course she was also very nervous and unsure about this new house. Bailey appeared less than thrilled about the whole thing.

Bailey and I went for a walk tonight, but this photo was taken a week or so ago when we went walking at Copper Creek Lake. It ended up being a pretty hot walk. What makes a dog look this sad and forlorn? It's having to spend the day at the groomer. I'm sure it wasn't fun, because he was a very dirty dog who was in great need of a bath and haircut.

Friday was grooming day. I thought Bailey looked really cute in his bandanna, but he didn't like it much, and it didn't last long. He was pretty grouchy after being at the groomer, and he had that bandanna off in no time.

Even though Bailey is almost nine years old, I call him a puppy. It was a hectic day at school, and I didn't think to take any pictures, but I always like photos of my sweet puppy. I took this one a week or two ago. How could you not love that face?

I got to spend most of the day with this handsome dog. Bailey likes it on the rare occasions when I'm home sick. We take lots of naps, and that is his main occupation.

Sweet little Bailey is needing lots of attention now that he is an only dog. We lost Zoe to cancer on Monday, and we both miss her very much. Bailey has had Zoe as his companion almost his entire life. He is not used to spending his days alone. Now when I come home, it is even more important that I cuddle and pet him, and he will fuss and whine at me if I don't.

It was Bailey's day to go to the groomer. I wanted to get him there one more time before I go back to school.



He went to a brand new groomer today, called Flawless Paws, and he came back adorable. She did a great job, and he'll be going there again.

The last time I had a picture of Bailey in the blog was after his terrible haircut. It took him several weeks to get over that, because he had an allergic reaction to something they used in his ears, not to mention he was almost bald. His hair has grown back. In fact he needs to go to the groomer, and get a haircut that will help him look more like the Bichon Frise he is. We have to find a new groomer though, because he is not going back to the old one.

I thought he looked awful cute here, looking over his shoulder.
