There is beauty all around us. We just need to take the time to notice the richness in our lives. These are the many things for which I am grateful.

Mouse House
This summer I have been spending lots of time working in my yard. A friend has been cutting down trees at the back of my lot, and then my job is to trim the branches, bundle them, and drag them to the driveway, where they can be picked up and hauled away. I have been using lots of twine and rope to do this. I pulled this ball of twine out of a cabinet in the garage where it had been stored for a long time. I could see right away that mice had been chewing on it. I assumed they were biting pieces off to take to their nest somewhere. It wasn't until I had unwound a lot of it that I realize some little mouse had actually built it's nest inside the hollowed out ball of twine.
Sorry little mouse, but you have been evicted.

Photo #195/365: My Flower Beds
I love summer, but there is a cloud that hangs over it all, and that is YARD WORK. By the time I am out of school and have time to work in the yard, the weeds are out of control. Since I've been home, I'm trying to work outside for at least 30 minutes a day. It doesn't happen everyday, but I am making progress, and once I get out there I usually work for longer. My flower beds near the house and garage are finally looking good. There is still the one across the back, however, it's a jungle back there.

Photo #122: Spring Has Sprung
I'm feeling good about the yard work I got done this weekend. Three-fourths of the lawn is mowed and the front flower bed is cleaned out. I set up a bird feeder in front of my big bow window, with the hopes I'll be able to snap some good bird photos, once the word is out that there is food available. I'm always thrilled when I see the day Lillies and Hostas growing, and this time of year their foliage is lush and full. The bugs haven't had a chance to begin dining on them yet.
Jacci and I headed over to Mom's this afternoon, with the intent of working on her lawn. Jacci mowed the back yesterday. Unfortunately, before we could get there, we had a thunderstorm, so everything is soaked. We still went over and hung out with Mom for awhile, but we'll have to tackle the lawn tomorrow. It also means I can't finish the last of my own mowing until everything has a chance to dry out.
