First Blizzard of the Season

This winter we haven't had much snow here in Iowa.  In fact we've been having record breaking high temperatures for March, which brought the first Blizzard of the season.

After a night of blizzard conditions, and with a high of only ten degrees today, the best place to be was under a down throw. Other than a trip to the grocery store, this is how Bailey and I spent the day. Please note the holiday socks. I am dressed for the season.

Photo #171: A Blizzard in June?

I enjoyed a leisurely Sunday morning, just hanging out in my PJs. Around 1 o'clock, I finally managed to pry myself off the couch and mow the back yard. We have had so much rain this summer that everything feels damp and moldy. The grass keeps growing, but I never seem to have the time to weed and trim before it's raining again. More rain is predicted for almost every day of this week.

Once I finally got the back mowed, I felt that I deserved ice cream, so I decided to pay my first visit of the season to Dairy Queen. Apparently a lot of other people had the same idea, because the place was packed, but I finally got my chance to order A French Silk Pie Blizzard! Delicious! And that's what's for dinner!

Photo #25: Storm Damage

We are in the middle of yet another Iowa snow storm with strong winds, and blowing snow. However much I complain, I'm happy to say that at least this is not my car underneath this tree. It does, however, belong to a neighbor on the street behind me. This is storm damage from the ice storm last week. The tree split in half, and came down on the car. Before they have even had a chance to clean that up, we are now experiencing another blizzard. It's not as bad here in town, but the roads outside of the city are terrible. They have closed Interstate 35 between Ames and Clear Lake. I sent my student teacher home at 2:00, because he needed to drive 25 miles north to Iowa State in Ames. This is the worst winter we have had in a long time. I am hoping that we do not have another snow day tomorrow. We already have 6 days to make up.
