The sculpture from in front of the Iowa Workforce Development Building is a reminder that we must stay strong and stick together.
There is beauty all around us. We just need to take the time to notice the richness in our lives. These are the many things for which I am grateful.

Photo #192: Taliesin Sculptures
One of the great things you see at Taliesin is the art work. Frank Lloyd Wright went to Japan in 1905 with the Ward Willits family and he designed a home for the Ward Willits family in Oak Park, Illinois. Do you notice the name? It is even spelled the same as ours, but unfortunately as far as we know he was not a relative. After this trip he began collecting Japanese art, and you can definately see the Japanese influence in his architecture.
There are many Japanese block prints, screens and sculptures throughout the house, as well as other art work. Here are some that caught my eye.

Photo #27: Information Overload
Information Overload
Originally uploaded by BarbaraLN
This is a sculpture in the Pappajohn Sculpture Garden in downtown Des Moines. This is just one of an entire collection of sculptures that were donated by the Pappajohn family, and they were just installed this past summer. The sculptures take up an entire city block, and they use to be in the Pappajohn's yard. I'm glad I don't have to mow that yard! I didn't actually take the picture today. I took it on my birthday, and I've been saving it for the right day. I don't know the real name of this sculpture, but it reminds me of how I feel on days like today. Overwhelmed! Overwhelmed by too much data, too much information, too much stuff, and too many demands. I am on information overload!
