Today was field day! We had gorgeous weather, the kids had a ball, and I managed to survive it all. This was my twentieth field day at Phillips, and it has changed a lot over the years. During the first years it was more of a competitive track and field event. While we still have the fifty yard dash, the long jump and relays, many of the events will never be found at a track meet. We have the Water Balloon Toss, the Bat Spin Relay, and the Marble Grab. For the Marble Grab they try to pick up marbles using their toes, out of a wading pool filled with water. I always like the Buddy Walkers, because it's not just about athletic ability. It requires problem solving, cooperation and communication.
